Methodology
How PriceByModel collects, matches, and refreshes exact-model appliance prices. This page is the source of truth for what “live price” and “exact model” mean on the site.
Identify the manufacturer model number
Shoppers enter the model printed on the appliance label, door jamb, or packaging (for example LRFLC2706S). We normalize case and separators so “LRFLC2706S” and “lrflc-2706s” resolve to the same identity.
Collect offers from approved retailers
PriceByModel requests product and offer data from partner sources — currently the Best Buy catalog/API and Abt Electronics affiliate product feeds. We do not invent prices or scrape unauthorized storefronts.
Match on exact model identity
Offers are kept when the retailer model/MPN matches the requested manufacturer model number. Similar or substitute SKUs are not treated as the same product. Finish variants that share a chassis may appear together when retailers expose alternate MPNs for the same listing.
Normalize and display comparable fields
Each offer is mapped into a common shape: retailer name, price, currency, availability, delivery notes when provided, and a deep link to the retailer product page (affiliate-tagged when a partnership is active).
Rank by observed live price
When multiple in-stock offers exist, the product page highlights the lowest observed price among them. Out-of-stock or unknown-availability offers may still appear for context but are not treated as the best buy.
Refresh on page load with short-lived caches
Catalog and product lookups refresh when pages are requested. Short server caches reduce retailer API load, so a price can lag by minutes. Each offer includes an updated timestamp for the observation we show.
Confirm on the retailer site
Checkout price, taxes, delivery, installation, and final availability are always controlled by the retailer. PriceByModel is a comparison layer — purchase happens on Best Buy, Abt, or another linked partner.
